The Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple commemorates the day when Mary, the mother of Jesus, was brought to the temple as a young child to be dedicated to God’s service. This is observed on December 4 in the Julian calendar, but on November 21 in the Gregorian calendar.
According to tradition, Mary’s parents, Joachim and Anna, brought her to the temple at the age of three, where she lived and served until she was of marriageable age. This day is celebrated with religious services and prayers, reflecting the significance of Mary’s life and her role in the Christian faith.
