Returning to Work After a Mental Health Leave
Coming back to work after a mental health absence is one of those experiences that almost no one prepares you for. You've done something hard, taken time away, sought treatment, tried to recover, and now you're standing at the threshold of ordinary working life again, possibly uncertain whether you're ready and unsure what to expect. This article is for that moment. It's practical, not prescriptive. Your return will be your own. The Gap Betwe...
When Your Drinking Has Increased
This article isn't about alcohol dependence or rock-bottom moments. It's about something much more common and much less discussed: the gradual drift toward drinking more than you intend to, more often than you used to, as a way of managing the weight of a demanding life. If you've noticed this in yourself, even just as a question at the back of your mind, that noticing is worth something. How Stress Drinking Develops Alcohol reduces activity...
Grief at Work
Grief doesn't pause for working hours. You can be in the middle of a presentation, an ordinary Tuesday, a routine meeting, and it arrives anyway. A thought, an image, a song through someone's headphones, and suddenly you're not entirely there. Most workplaces have limited language for this. Bereavement leave covers the funeral. After that, the expectation, often unspoken, is that you return and function. For most people, that's not how grief w...
Caregiver Burnout: Signs You Shouldn't Ignore
Caregiver burnout doesn't always look dramatic. It often looks like someone who is managing, just barely, just enough, until one day they aren't. By the time it's obvious, it's usually been building for months. The signs are worth knowing, because catching them early genuinely changes what's possible. What Caregiver Burnout Looks Like Caregiver burnout shares features with occupational burnout but has some distinct dimensions. The emotional ...
Managing Work While Caring for Aging or Sick Family
Millions of working adults are also caregivers, looking after an aging parent, a seriously ill spouse or sibling, or a child with significant health needs. Most do it without telling their employer, managing the weight of it quietly across two worlds that don't acknowledge each other. That works for a while. And then, often, it doesn't. The Hidden Load Caregiving strain isn't just the hours spent in direct care. It's the mental load that run...

However, as of July 2024, Microsoft has changed this behaviour for security and privacy reasons. Now, when you add a website using the “Website” tab, it will open in a new browser tab instead of within the Teams interface
