Important Event
Christmas in the Armenian Apostolic Church is celebrated on January 6th. It is known as “Surb Tsnund” or “Holy Birth.” In the Armenian Apostolic Church, the week preceding the January 6 celebration of the Holy Nativity and Theophany is a period of fasting. On Christmas Eve, worshippers gather in churches for a special midnight liturgy called “Divine Liturgy of the Holy Nativity.” During the service, the birth of Jesus Christ is commemorated with hymns, prayers, and readings from the Bible. The celebration continues with festive meals, exchanging gifts, and spending time with family and loved ones.
