Wear Red Day, occurring on the first Friday in February every year in the US, Canada and the UK, uses the red dress as a national symbol to raise awareness about heart disease in women. The Wear Red Day movement works to save women’s lives and beat heart disease, the number-one killer of women. Show support by wearing red. The goal of the day is to warn women of their number one health threat.
Women with health disease often times experience delayed or missed misdiagnoses and different symptoms than men. There are also risk factors that are unique to women such as giving childbirth where high blood pressure or diabetes may arise. This is often an indicator of an increased risk of future heart problems.
