Wear It Purple Day in Australia is a colorful and empowering event that typically takes place on the last Friday in August. It’s a day dedicated to promoting acceptance, inclusion, and support for young LGBTQ+ individuals. Participants wear purple clothing or accessories to show solidarity and raise awareness about the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth.
The day aims to create safe and supportive environments in schools, workplaces, and communities and to combat discrimination and bullying. Wear It Purple Day sends a strong message of love and acceptance, reminding everyone of the importance of embracing diversity and fostering a world where everyone can be their authentic selves.
It was established in 2010 as a grassroots initiative started by two young people, Katherine Hudson and Scott Williams.
