Important Event
The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for “Body of Christ”) is a Christian feast commemorating the Holy Eucharist. Observed on the first Thursday after Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi mirrors Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter, and the day that Christians believe the first Eucharist, The Last Supper, took place.
It was first proposed by Thomas Aquinas, a doctor of the church, who wanted to create a feast focused on the Holy Eucharist entirely. Some Anglican churches observe Corpus Christi, but under the name, Thanksgiving for Holy Communion.
