Important Event Observance begins at sunset, the evening before the first full day of holiday.
On the first, ninth, and twelfth days of the Baha’i month of Ridvan, Baha’is commemorate Baha’u’llah’s declaration in 1863 that he was a messenger of God. Although Baha’is observe all twelve days, these specific days are significant as times when Baha’is refrain from work.
The word “Ridvan” means paradise and is named after the garden in Baghdad where Baha’u’llah announced proclaimed his mission as the prophet of God. This festival marks a pivotal moment in Baha’i history
